Multi-billion sum drug smuggling case uncovered in Fergana

A major case involving the illegal importation of potent medicinal products into the country has been uncovered in the Fergana region. This was reported by the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the information, the operational measure was carried out in cooperation with the Department's Kuvasay city branch, the State Security Service, internal affairs bodies, and the Border Troops of the State Security Service.

During the investigations, it was revealed that a group of individuals had smuggled 30,660 units of Regopen and 925 units of Tropicamide, with a total value of 3.2 billion soums, into Uzbekistan through clandestine routes.

According to investigation data, the smuggled medicines were brought into the country by breaching wire fences installed at the state border in the territory of the Vaziyo neighborhood.

The law enforcement agencies have confiscated these medicinal products as material evidence.
