Ahead of a crucial Champions League semifinal clash against Barcelona, Italian club Inter has suffered a major setback. One of the team’s key defenders, Frenchman Benjamin Pavard, will be forced to miss the match due to injury.
Earlier reports suggested Pavard had joined the final training session with the team and was likely to start against Barcelona. However, according to reliable insider Fabrizio Romano, the defender has not fully recovered from an ankle injury he sustained on April 27 and was unable to finish today’s training session.
Following a medical check-up, doctors strongly advised against risking his health, leading head coach Simone Inzaghi to remove him from the match squad.
Pavard’s absence may create a significant gap in Inter’s defense, as he has been one of the most reliable players this season and a crucial part of the team’s defensive strategy.
The second-leg semifinal between Barcelona and Inter will be played on the night of May 6 to May 7, kicking off at 23:59 Tashkent time. The winner will advance to the Champions League final.
Coach Inzaghi must now decide which substitute defender to bring into the starting lineup in Pavard’s place.
While Barcelona also has its share of injury concerns, they are expected to feature a returning Robert Lewandowski, which will strengthen their attack and further challenge Inter’s backline.
Thus, Inter faces a major test, and fans are eagerly anticipating how the team will perform in this crucial match. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
