On September 8, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the head of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) Gianni Infantino.
At the beginning of the conversation, the FIFA President once again sincerely congratulated the leader and people of Uzbekistan on the historic event - the national team's qualification for the final stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA. It was noted that this worthy achievement is a practical result of the effective reforms being carried out in our country, the attention and comprehensive support being paid to the development of sports.
Issues of further expanding Uzbekistan's fruitful cooperation with this authoritative international structure were discussed, primarily in improving the system of organization and management of football, promoting the emergence of young talents, and training coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors, and technical specialists at the international level.
Close cooperation in the implementation of joint programs for the popularization of football, primarily among young people, was noted with deep satisfaction.
With FIFA's technical support, a modern National Football Center has been established, including a situational center for digital football with the introduction of innovative solutions.
Last year, the Futsal World Championship was successfully held in our country.
Special attention was paid to organizing major FIFA competitions and events in Uzbekistan.
An agreement was reached to open a regional FIFA office for the countries of Central Asia in Tashkent.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan presented FIFA President Gianni Infantino with the highest state award - the "Dustlik" Order - for his personal contribution to the development and promotion of Uzbek football in the international arena.
