50 rubles per kilometer: a new sports initiative announced

Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexey Sivilev made an unusual proposal to the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. According to his idea, citizens may receive monetary rewards for each kilometer covered. The deputy shared his thoughts on his personal Telegram page.

According to Sivilev, the construction of new sports facilities is not enough to increase the physical activity of the population. In his opinion, the strongest motivation is financial incentives. “We must support millions of people who pay attention to their health without additional expenses. This can be achieved without closing streets and without projects requiring billions in investments,” he said.

The concept proposed by the deputy can be implemented through the SportID system. In this system, users will record their workouts and receive bonuses in return. These rewards can be exchanged for discounts on sports equipment and food products, for reducing the cost of gym and swimming pool memberships, for cheaper participation in amateur competitions, as well as for discounts on medical insurance policies.

So far, the exact functioning of SportID has not been defined. One possible option is to introduce the service on the basis of the “State Services Portal.” There, the activity of citizens will be tracked through their personal digital profiles. Sivilev also announced that he submitted this initiative to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Digital Development, and a special working group was established.
