Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking about his team, emphasized that he doesn't see him as one of the main Champions League medalists this year. Tomorrow, the Citizens will face Italian champions Napoli in the first round of the general stage.
Guardiola openly expressed his views in an interview with journalists:
- We do not see ourselves as the leading contenders of the tournament. Our main goal is to enjoy every game and be happy to participate in this competition. Both tomorrow's match and the start of the tournament are very important to us.
The experienced coach also noted that the season calendar has become even denser:
- This year there are more games than in previous seasons. If we achieve a poor result at the very first step, difficulties are inevitable in the subsequent stages. If you remember, last season we drew against Inter Milan in the first round. "And this time, I hope, our results will be better," said Guardiola.
