Kazakhstan national team appoints interim head coach

The Kazakhstan national football team has undergone a leadership change. According to the federation’s official website, Talgat Baysufinov has been entrusted as the interim head coach of the team.

He will lead the squad in the next two crucial matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. On October 10, Kazakhstan will face Liechtenstein away, and on October 13, they will host North Macedonia, with Baysufinov on the bench.

This position is not new for Talgat Baysufinov. He has already managed the Kazakhstan national team twice before: from 2016–2017 and 2020–2022. Currently, he works as a mentor for the coaches of Kazakhstan’s U-21 team.

At the same time, the Kazakhstan Football Federation has announced that it is continuing its search abroad for a permanent head coach. The process is being carried out similarly to the approach taken by the Uzbekistan Football Association.

It is not yet known who the new coach will be, but the federation stresses its intention to attract a highly qualified specialist for the team.
