For the national team, especially, playing in major tournaments is the dream of any footballer," said Messi in an interview with NBC channel. The 2022 World Cup was held in Qatar.
In the opening match of that tournament, the Argentina national team unexpectedly lost to Saudi Arabia, but then won all the following games and claimed the trophy. This victory was Messi's first World Cup champion title in his career.
