Dzanyolo Expected a Call-Up to the National Team

Galatasaray's attacking midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, currently playing on loan at Udinese, shared his thoughts on the season's games. The 26-year-old footballer has appeared in 14 matches this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist.

"I am very pleased with how the season is progressing. In the last game, we lost to Roma, but despite playing well in the first half, luck was not on our side.

I hope we will continue like this in the future," Zaniolo said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia. Zaniolo also admitted that there are still issues with Roma fans.

"Considering how we parted ways, I understand them. I once again apologize to them for celebrating in that way, but we need to leave the past behind us.

I believe Roma is a very strong team and can continue to compete for the title until the very end," Zaniolo added.

The Italian national team is preparing for the final matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification phase.

Despite injuries among the players, head coach Gennaro Gattuso did not call up Zaniolo for the national team. "I was expecting a call-up; playing in the World Cup this summer was my dream.

Obviously, I need to play better and showcase myself more. There are strong forwards in the national team, and the competition is very high.

I will just continue working hard. We have all the opportunities needed to qualify for the World Cup, and I believe we will achieve it," Zaniolo stated.

In November's remaining qualifiers, Italy will face Moldova and Norway.
