“Al-Ittihad” forward Karim Benzema has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the French national team. Benzema last played for the national team in the summer of 2022 during the UEFA Nations League.
“Can I return to the French national team? Initially, the national team is currently distant from me, but you never know.
For the moment, I am focused on the current situation,” Benzema said in an interview with AS. Recently, the French national team secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Under Didier Deschamps' management, the team was placed in a group with Ukraine, Iceland, and Azerbaijan, and managed to collect 16 points out of a possible 18. This December, Karim Benzema turns 38 years old.
During his career with the French national team, he has played 97 matches, scored 37 goals, and provided 20 assists.
