FC Barcelona Marks 126th Anniversary

In the latest round of the Spanish championship, Catalonia's "Barcelona" club defeated "Alaves" 3–1 at their home stadium. This match held special significance for the club, as today, November 29, 2025, marks the 126th anniversary of "Barcelona."

Founded on November 29, 1899, "Barcelona" initially played games in front of spectators seated on barriers around the field. The fans were nicknamed "cules" (which means "backsides" in Spanish) because their backs were visible from behind the barriers.

"Barcelona" cemented its place in the elite of European football during the 1990s under the great coach Johan Cruyff.

Cruyff fundamentally restructured the club and developed the unique playing style that defines "Barcelona" to this day. Every coach since has been expected to adhere to this style.

In 1992, "Barcelona" won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history. Since then, the club has won the competition four more times.
