Renard: Argentina Could Become World Champion Again

Head coach of the Saudi Arabian national football team, Hervé Renard, shared his thoughts on Argentina's chances in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The "Albiceleste" team won the last World Cup despite starting the tournament with a setback: in the group stage's opening match, Argentina lost 2-1 to Saudi Arabia.

"Argentina has very good chances to win the World Cup again. I won't repeat what I said back in 2022 because there is still a long way to go until the tournament.

However, back then, I genuinely felt they could succeed. Sometimes starting poorly in a tournament benefits a team as it serves as a wake-up call – that is exactly what happened with the Argentinians in Qatar," Renard stated in an interview with Dsports.

For the 2026 World Cup, Lionel Scaloni's team will play in the same group as Austria, Algeria, and Jordan. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia will compete in a group alongside Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde.
