Scotland's national football team head coach Steve Clarke has shared his thoughts on the results of the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw. His team has been placed in Group C and will compete against Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti.
"This is a good draw result. I did not want any European teams; I wanted opponents from different continents, and we have achieved that.
Playing against Brazil is always exciting; it’s always a pleasure to face them. Morocco is also a strong opponent.
The last time we participated in the World Cup, both of these teams defeated us. Hopefully, this time, we can deliver a better performance against them," Clarke told STV.
According to Clarke, he will remain another 6-7 days to inspect hotels and training sites connected to the draw results. He will also determine where the team might stay during the tournament.
"There is a lot of work to be done before Christmas. After that, we will plan our friendly matches and preparation schedule for the upcoming year," he said.
The coach expressed hopes that the team will advance to the playoffs. "This has become our goal every time we qualify for a major tournament.
We’ll find out next summer whether we achieve it or not, won’t we?" he remarked. Currently, Scotland ranks 36th in the FIFA World Rankings.
