The Truth About Banknote Featuring Ronaldo's Image

Truth about the banknote featuring Ronaldo's image
A new report related to Cristiano Ronaldo has gone viral on social media in Portugal ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The report claimed that a special €7 banknote would be issued in honor of Ronaldo.

However, this news was quickly proven false. Portugal's central bank, the Bank of Portugal, issued an official statement denying the claims: "The reports circulating on social media about the issuance of a special €7 banknote featuring Ronaldo's image are baseless.

Our bank has not planned to issue such a banknote, and such an operation is entirely impossible." In its statement, the bank emphasized that, according to the rules of the Euro system, all Euro banknotes are issued under a unified framework, and the circulation of personalized banknotes is prohibited.

Additionally, it was highlighted that the design of the fake banknotes featuring Ronaldo's image and the related claims lack any legal or official foundation. This incident not only involved Ronaldo but also was linked to another soccer star, Lionel Messi.

Fake banknotes featuring Messi's image have also surfaced on the internet. Experts warn that the mass circulation of such false reports, along with their fake designs, could potentially harm the financial system.
