Newcastle United player Anthony Gordon has equaled the club’s record for goals and assists in a single Champions League season. On Wednesday, the 24-year-old winger scored one goal and provided one assist in the match against Bayer Leverkusen.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw. Gordon has contributed directly to seven of Newcastle’s goals this Champions League season (5 goals and 2 assists).
According to Squawka, this achievement matches the record set by Newcastle's legendary former striker Alan Shearer during the 2002/03 season. Under the management of Eddie Howe, the team currently holds 12th place on the overall competition table with 10 points after six rounds.
