Bayer Secures Hard-Fought Victory Against Leipzig Away

The next round of the German Bundesliga saw RB Leipzig hosting Bayer Leverkusen on home turf. The match was highly competitive, and Leverkusen secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory.

At the start of the game, both teams created goal-scoring opportunities. For Bayer, Marten Thierye delivered a precise pass to Patrik Schick, but the forward's close-range shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Leipzig's Romulo Cruz initiated a counterattack, during which Christopher Baumgartner struck from inside the penalty area, only to be denied by a save. Later, Xaver Schlager's pass found Tidiam Gomiz, who missed a good chance by shooting over the crossbar.

In the 35th minute, RB Leipzig opened the scoring. Following a throw-in, Schlager controlled the ball near the edge of the penalty area, moved centrally, and struck past a defender, sending a precise low shot into the bottom corner — 1-0.

Bayer responded quickly: Arthur Soares provided a cross near the box, and Thierye headed the ball into the far top corner to equalize — 1-1. Just before halftime, Leverkusen took the lead.

Nathan Tella delivered an accurate pass into the penalty area, and Schick, after deceiving the defender, lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper into the far top corner — 2-1. Leipzig continued to push for an equalizer in the second half.

Following a pass from Romulo, Konrad Harder attempted a diving header, but the goalkeeper successfully collected the ball. Later, Nicolas Seiwald set up Harder in a promising position, but he failed to beat the goalkeeper from close range.

For Bayer, Montreol Calbret's pass led Christian Kofane into a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot struck the goalkeeper's body. The final blow came in the 90th minute.

After a major error by David Raum, Calbret penetrated through on goal and extended the scoreline to 3-1. As a result, both RB Leipzig and Bayer now share 29 points each, jointly holding third place in the league standings.
