
Martin Jakubko, a former player of Moscow’s "Dynamo" club, commented on the possibility of the Russian national football team playing friendly matches against Hungary and China in 2026. "They are not top-level teams of Europe or the world, but it is significant that the Russian national team can deliver a good performance close to its previous level," Legalbet quoted Jakubko as saying.
For reference, since February 2022, Russian national teams and clubs have been barred from participating in international tournaments by a joint decision of FIFA and UEFA. In their most recent friendly match, Valery Karpin's team suffered a 2-0 defeat against Chile.
