Former Germany midfielder Toni Kroos, who has vast experience in world football, shared his thoughts ahead of the 2026 World Cup. According to him, several teams stand out as the main contenders to win the next tournament.
Kroos named Spain, Portugal, France and Morocco as the strongest favorites for the upcoming championship. He noted that in recent years these teams have stood out for their consistent performances, strong squads and international experience.
At the same time, the former star did not hide his opinion about the Germany national team either. In his words, it is still difficult to see the Germans among the main contenders for the title. However, he said he believes Germany will reach at least the quarter-finals, and possibly the semi-finals.
It is worth noting that supercomputer analysis had also been published earlier. According to it, Spain’s chances of winning the 2026 World Cup were estimated at 17%. France ranked second in that rating.
For the record, the next World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament is also notable for being the first in history to feature 48 national teams.
Fans, meanwhile, can look forward to a long football festival packed with battles and unexpected surprises.
