Barcelona have announced they will not take any steps to sign Athletic (Bilbao) forward Nico Williams. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
According to El Nacional, although the 23-year-old—after rejecting the Catalans’ offer last summer—has now shown interest in moving to Barcelona, the club has definitively closed the transfer option for Williams. The source adds that the Blaugrana have also raised questions about the player’s physical condition: his numbers this season have dropped significantly compared to last year.
To recall, last summer Barcelona wanted to add Williams to the squad, but the player turned down the offer by signing a new contract with the Bilbao club running until 30 June 2035. This season he has played 18 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists. Transfermarkt values Williams at €60 million.
