Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe reacted sharply to a journalist’s claim that Burnley’s pressure increased in the second half of the previous match. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
The coach dismissed the claim, saying the match statistics do not support it. “What pressure? On us? Have you seen the stats? Maybe you were watching a different game. There was no strong pressure. Yes, there were chances at both ends, but if there had been serious pressure, I would have admitted it,” Howe was quoted as saying by journalist Keith Downie.
Howe also noted that Newcastle had several solutions during the game. However, he added that he usually prefers to correct the situation through the pre-planned main tactics rather than switching to backup plans.
In the Premier League’s 19th-round match, Newcastle beat Burnley 3–1 away from home.
