Barcelona are discussing the option of bringing defender Joao Cancelo back ahead of the winter transfer window. This is reported by euro-football.rureports.
The right-back intends to leave Al Hilal and return to Europe. AC Milan’s Inter are being mentioned as the main contender for the Portuguese player, but the Catalans are also in the race. According to journalist Carlos Monfort, Barcelona have already looked into the details of a potential deal. However, finalizing the move is very difficult due to Cancelo’s salary: in Saudi Arabia he earns around €15 million per year.
Sources say the 31-year-old himself prefers a move to Catalonia. Still, his return to Barca may only be realistic if Al Hilal continue to pay a significant part of his wages.
