Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo said he is fully confident the team can win Europe’s most prestigious trophy under head coach Diego Simeone. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
The club chief noted that winning the Champions League is extremely difficult for any team, but the current squad and the work of the coaching staff allow Atletico to set ambitious goals.
“Winning the Champions League is very hard. But I believe we’ll achieve it with Cholo. With Simeone and this team we can do it—I’m optimistic. Why can’t we win the Champions League?” AS quotes Cerezo as saying.
In the current Champions League season, Atletico have recorded four wins and two defeats in six matches. The team sit 8th in the league-phase table with 12 points.
