Amorim leaves Man United: Fletcher to take charge on interim basis until Burnley game

Manchester United have officially announced they have parted ways with Ruben Amorim. According to the club statement, the Portuguese coach has stepped down as head coach.
The statement notes that Ruben was appointed in November 2024 and led the team to the UEFA Europa League final held in Bilbao in May.
The club’s leadership explained the decision by the current Premier League situation: with Manchester United sitting sixth in the table, the board faced a difficult choice and said it was time for change. In their view, this step gives the team a better chance to finish as high as possible in the Premier League.
The club also thanked Amorim for his contribution and wished him success in his future career. As for the next match, the statement says Darren Fletcher will lead the team on Wednesday against Burnley.
