Uzbekistan national team striker joins Iranian club

Uzbekistan national team striker Igor Sergeyev will continue his career in Iran. The player has signed a contract with Tehran’s Persepolis. This was reported by podrobno.uz reports .
The transfer was officially confirmed by the club’s press service. “Igor Sergeyev is with us. Welcome to Persepolis,” the statement said.
Earlier, rumors circulated that Sergeyev was close to joining Iran’s Sepahan.
The 32-year-old forward was one of the top scorers in the Uzbekistan Super League last season with Pakhtakor: 20 goals and 3 assists in 29 matches.
According to Transfermarkt, in 2025 Igor Sergeyev was named the country’s best footballer, with an estimated market value of around $1.2 million.
Sergeyev also played in the Kazakhstan league in 2021–2023, representing Aktobe and Tobol. Together with the Kostanay club, he won the national championship gold medals.
Persepolis are currently second in the Iranian league with 28 points.
