Madrid’s Atletico looked superior to Real in terms of overall play and deserved the win more in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
This opinion was voiced by former footballer Aleksey Nikitin, who played for Khimki near Moscow. According to him, Diego Simeone outcoached Xabi Alonso in the managers’ duel.
“Atletico were better prepared for this match. Simeone found the key to breaking down Real’s defence — especially by creating many chances down the wings. Based on the game, Atletico did not deserve to lose,” Nikitin was quoted as saying by Match TV.
Nevertheless, the match ended 2–1 in Real’s favour. Now the Madrid side will face Barcelona in the tournament final.
The Catalans, meanwhile, thrashed Athletic (Bilbao) 5–0 in the semi-final.
