Former Manchester United player Andrey Kanchelskis commented on the upbeat mood shown by the team’s former head coach Ruben Amorim after he was dismissed. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
The club announced the end of its cooperation with the Portuguese specialist on January 5. Soon after, photos of Amorim smiling circulated in the British media.
Kanchelskis reacted sharply: “With that kind of money, anyone would smile. He doesn’t even understand that you can’t do that,” he said in an interview with SE.
He also stressed that resigning at a giant club like Manchester United should be a heavy blow for any coach. Kanchelskis recalled the Soviet era as well, adding that back then players and coaches tried to stay out of sight after defeats.
As a reminder, Ruben Amorim had been in charge of Manchester United since autumn 2024. Last season, under his leadership, the Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League table.
