Xabi Alonso is no longer Real Madrid’s head coach. On Monday, the Madrid club officially announced that it had parted ways with the specialist by mutual agreement. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
The team’s first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also reacted to the news and addressed Alonso: “Thank you for everything, Xabi Alonso. It was a pleasure working with you. I wish you all the best in the future — you deserve it,” he wrote.
Real Madrid parted ways with Alonso a day after losing 2–3 to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.
According to reports, Álvaro Arbeloa has been appointed Real Madrid’s new head coach. The “Royal Club” are currently in second place in the La Liga table.
