Former CSKA midfielder Aleksandr Grishin said that Xabi Alonso’s move to Madrid’s Real was a wrong decision. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
In the expert’s view, Alonso would have been better staying in Germany: after winning the Bundesliga with Bayer, the coach’s reputation there rose sharply, and the level of trust and recognition was high.
“I think he should have stayed in Germany — everyone valued him there. But it’s hard to say ‘no’ to Real. He meant well, but it turned out the other way around,” Grishin said on Match TV.
Recall that Alonso and Real terminated the contract after losing 2–3 to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup.
The team will now be entrusted to former Spain national team defender Álvaro Arbeloa.
