The head coaching issue has escalated again at Frankfurt's Eintracht Frankfurt. According to reports in German media, the club is seriously discussing the option of bringing former Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso to the helm.
It is reported that Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director, Marcus Cresche, wants to meet personally with the Spanish manager to discuss the terms of his potential appointment. This is not yet an official offer or agreement, but it indicates the club's ambition: it's clear that Frankfurt's management is looking for a "high-caliber" coach for this position.
Notably, Alonso recently retired from Real Madrid. The club's official statement on January 12th stated that the parties had terminated cooperation by mutual agreement. Following this, several German sources report that Eintracht Frankfurt might attempt to bring him back to work soon.
At the same time, the situation at Eintracht Frankfurt is understandable: the club has suspended cooperation with Dino Toppmeller, and it has been openly stated that a new wave is needed. The team is currently in around 7th place in the Bundesliga, and the lack of consistency in the results forced the management to make a quick decision.
Now the biggest intrigue is whether Alonso will say yes to this challenge or not. If the match takes place, everything can accelerate: in football, "we met" is often not far from "then the contract paper." However, for now, these reports remain a possible scenario - there is no official confirmation.
