UCL. Painful "sensation" from "Inter," "Newcastle" and "Bayer" in 1/8 finals...

Three more matches in the second leg of the Champions League playoffs have concluded. This night, as usual, was full of unexpected turns: last season's finalist "Inter" sensationally withdrew from the competition, "Newcastle" completed work on their home field, and "Bayer" advanced to the next stage with the desired result, although they didn't show a luxurious performance.
The biggest sensation was observed in Milan. Last year's finalist, Inter, hosted Budø-Glimt in front of their fans, but lost again and were eliminated from the Champions League. The Italians tried to change the situation during the match, Bastoni scored in the 76th minute, rekindling hope. However, the Norwegians had already scored twice through Hauge and Even. As a result, the 1-2 defeat cost Inter dearly - the team unexpectedly withdrew from the competition.
And "Budø-Glimt" once again proved that they are not a random team. Order, discipline, and composure - these very qualities gave the guests the desired result. In short, in this clash, not the name, but preparation and courage prevailed.
Inter - Budø-Glimt 1:2 (First leg - 1:3)
Goals: Bastoni 76 - Hauge 58, Even 72
Inter Milan: Sommer, Bissek, Akanji, Bastoni, Luis Enrique (Diouf, 62), Fratezzi (Bonny, 62), Zielinski (Sucic, 62), Barella, Dimarco, Esposito, Thuram.
Budø-Glimt - Heikin, Schjovold, Börtuft, Gundersen, Berkan, Even, Berg, Brunstad, Blomberg (Maatta, 77), Hög (Helmersen, 77), Hauge.
The match in Germany wasn't particularly bright, but it wasn't important for Bayer Leverkusen. The match against Olympiacos ended in a 0-0 draw. There were no goals in the match, and there weren't many dangerous situations, but that's exactly what the "pharmacologists" needed. This was because the 2-0 victory in the opening match gave the Leverkusen club an overall advantage. Thus, Bayer Leverkusen reached the quarter-finals without excessive excitement, but with confidence.
Bayer Leverkusen - Olympiacos 0:0 (Debut - 2:0)
Bayer Leverkusen: Blaswich, Cuanza, Tapsoba, Andrić, Grimaldo, Garcia, Vazquez (Arthur, 77'), Palacios (Tape, 72'), Maza (Pokou, 56'), Hofmann, Schick.
Olympiacos - Zolakis, Rodiney, Retsos, Pirola, Ortega, Muzakitis, Esse, Garcia, Martins, Chiquinho (André Luis, 66), Toremi (Al-Kaabi, 66).
In England, one of the most meaningful and spectacular meetings of the evening took place. Newcastle hosted Karabakh at home and won 3-2. The hosts started the game quickly: Tonali opened the scoring in the 4th minute, followed by Joelinton in the 6th minute. At first glance, it seemed that everything would be very easy for the hosts.
However, Karabakh did not surrender. In the second half, Duran reduced the deficit, then Botman scored Newcastle's third goal. After that, Jafarquliyev revived the guests' hopes and brought the score to 3:2. The intrigue persisted for the remaining minutes, but the English kept the lead and advanced to the next round.
Newcastle - Karabakh 3:2 (First leg - 6:1)
Goals: Tonali 4, Joelinton 6, Botman 52 - Duran 51, Jafarquliyev 57
Newcastle - Ramsdale, Trippier (Hall, 53), Botman (Willock, 53), Joelinton (Gordon, 54), Tonali, Barnes, Osula (Wissa, 73), D. Murphy, Voltemade, Burn, A. Murphy.
Karabakh: Koxalski, Silva, Yankovich, Montel, Zubir, Duran, Bolt, Bikalo, Jafarquliyev, Huseynov, Medina.
Thus, following today's return leg, Bourdieu-Glimt, Newcastle, and Bayer Leverkusen have fulfilled their objectives. For Inter, however, that night ended painfully. The Champions League has once again reminded us of one truth: it's not yesterday's name and reputation that matters here, but today's game.
