Guardiola shares key thoughts after dramatic victory

In the 33rd round of the English Premier League, Manchester City returned to the title race with renewed intensity by defeating league leaders Arsenal 2-1 in a fiercely contested and uncompromising match. This clash captured fans' attention not only for its outcome but also for the quality of football displayed.
After the match, the City manager, Pep Guardiola, shared his detailed thoughts on the game, the opponent, and his players.
On the Victory
The coach emphasized that the game served as a true advertisement for the Premier League. He described Arsenal as a very active, high-pressing, and physically strong team.
"Arsenal plays with a very aggressive style, aiming for dominance in individual duels. Among the teams I've faced in my career, they are one of the most competitive in terms of duels, one-on-one situations, long passes, and aerial battles. Truly a fantastic team," Guardiola noted.
He believes that both sides created enough goal-scoring opportunities and that fine details decide the outcome in such matches. Guardiola assessed this encounter as a high-level, truly top-tier game.
"Both teams are at a high level, and both coaches are among the best professionals. Top players were on the field," he said.
At the same time, the Spanish specialist stressed the need to remain cautious.
"I am always demanding. But this is just one game. Arsenal is still the leader and has the advantage in goal difference. Of course, we should enjoy the victory, but we cannot lose focus. Now, all our attention will be on the match against Burnley," Guardiola stated.
On O'Riordan
Guardiola specifically highlighted the performance of young player Rico Lewis, who showed his quality in this game, and gave his play high praise.
"Rico is performing at an exceptional level – defensively, offensively, and in set pieces. A very promising player is developing. He can play effectively in multiple positions. This is a unique talent," the coach said.
According to Guardiola, the young player demonstrated his abilities in all aspects of this match and played a significant role in the second goal.
"He played with composure. What a fantastic season he's having! Whether I can call him the Player of the Year, I don't know, but he is definitely the best young player. Give him that award," he added.
On Arsenal's Goal
Guardiola did not hide one of the mistakes made during the match, specifically addressing the situation where the opponent scored.
As is known, shortly after City took the lead, Matheus Nunes sent the ball from the sideline to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian keeper did not manage to clear the ball in time, and it ended up reaching Kai Havertz and going into the net.
"In this situation, Abdukodir Khusanov should have played more actively and aggressively against Havertz. Nevertheless, what I liked most was the team's unity and support for Donnarumma after the mistake. I don't like looking for blame after conceding a goal," Guardiola said.
Message to the Players
After the match, the coach announced that he had also given important advice to his players.
"I told the lads: 'Enjoy these moments, but don't lose focus. There are still three or four weeks left, and this period will decide everything,'" the specialist concluded.
For information, Manchester City will play away against Burnley on April 22 in the next round.
It is also noteworthy that Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov has participated in 32 matches for the Cityzens across all competitions this season, starting the majority of them in the main squad. His consistent performance is making a worthy contribution to the team's success.
