Wojciech Szczęsny decides to stay at Barcelona

Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny has rejected a serious offer from one of the rival clubs in the Spanish league. The experienced shot-stopper prioritized his role at Barcelona and family stability over the opportunity to be a starter. This is reported by Goal.com reporting .

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 36-year-old was offered a contract guaranteeing him a starting goalkeeper position for two seasons. However, the Polish keeper turned down the offer, preferring to remain with the team under Hansi Flick.

Szczęsny had retired after leaving Juventus in the summer of 2024, but returned to the pitch following Marc-André ter Stegen's serious injury at the request of Barcelona. Currently, he values team environment and personal principles over financial gain.

The club's coaching staff highly values Szczęsny's experience. He serves as a mentor for young goalkeepers, particularly Joan García. His positive influence in the dressing room and leadership skills have made him an integral part of the team.
