Jean-Philippe Mateta admits he was devastated after his Milan transfer collapsed

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has admitted that the collapse of his move to Milan during the winter transfer window took a heavy mental toll on him. The parties were close to an agreement worth 35 million euros, but the Italian club decided to cancel the transfer after medical examinations revealed knee issues. This was reported by Goal.com .
In an interview with L’Equipe, Mateta recalled that period: "To be honest, the transfer falling through was a mental blow. However, I quickly pulled myself together and, after consulting with specialists, learned that surgery was not necessary. I focused all my attention on training and tried to prove my worth to manager Oliver Glasner," he emphasized.
Nevertheless, the connection between the French striker and Milan has not been severed. The club's sporting director, Igli Tare, did not rule out returning to the situation in the future. Furthermore, the player's agent, Paul Latouche, was spotted in the stands watching the match between Milan and Juventus, which further fueled transfer rumors.
