Casemiro: Neymar will be Brazil's main star at the 2026 World Cup

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has come to the defense of his long-time international teammate Neymar. He emphasized that despite the forward's recent injury, he remains a crucial figure for Brazil's World Cup ambitions. Despite concerns over the health of the Selecao's all-time top scorer, Casemiro believes he can still make his mark on the world stage. This is reported by Goal.com .
During a training camp in Teresopolis, Casemiro answered questions from journalists regarding Neymar. Speaking about the forward, who is currently sidelined with a right leg muscle injury, the midfielder said: "Of course, no player likes to be injured, but I hope he will be healthy enough to take the pitch. We need everyone, especially Neymar. We are eagerly awaiting the return of all our players."
Casemiro reacted sharply to rumors that Neymar's leadership role in the team is coming to an end. He dismissed suggestions that the forward can no longer be a central figure for the five-time world champions. "We all know his qualities. He needs to recover his health and return to training first, then we can think about leadership. He is still capable of being the team's main protagonist," he added.
According to medical reports, Neymar will miss friendly matches against Panama and Egypt. The main concern is the World Cup opening match against Morocco in New Jersey on June 13. The Brazilian medical staff is working around the clock to ensure the 34-year-old star is at least available on the bench.
After quarter-final failures in the last two tournaments, the Brazil national team is determined to prove itself in North America. The Selecao won the title in the 1994 World Cup hosted by the USA and aims to repeat that historic result this time.
