Barcelona eyes Champions League finalist

Barcelona continues its activity in the transfer market. The Spanish club's management is considering Piero Hincapie, currently playing for Arsenal, to strengthen their defensive line. According to the Daily Mail, the Catalans plan to submit an inquiry despite knowing it will be difficult to lure the 24-year-old defender away from London. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
Hincapie is currently on loan to Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen. However, the contract includes a mandatory purchase clause that triggers upon certain conditions. It is expected that Arsenal will soon pay 52 million euros to sign the Ecuadorian on a five-year deal. Hincapie has become a key part of Mikel Arteta's squad and has even secured a starting spot for the Champions League final against PSG in Budapest.
Barcelona has already begun its summer transfer campaign. The team has finalized the transfer of Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon, and stars like Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva are also expected to join. Despite the club's financial difficulties, sporting director Deco aims to sign at least one central defender.
After negotiations for Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni stalled, Hincapie became the primary target. The left-footed defender, who can also operate on the flank, perfectly fits Barcelona's requirements. Last season, under Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, he demonstrated his high-level skills by winning the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.
