Atalanta demands 50 million euros for their star: Bayern and PSG in the race

Italy's Atalanta has made a final decision regarding their attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere. Following his brilliant performance at the 2026 World Cup, the Bergamo club plans to boost its transfer budget by selling the Belgian talent. Currently, two European giants — Germany's Bayern Munich and France's Paris Saint-Germain — are the main contenders for the player, reports Goal.com. reports .

According to Corriere Bergamo, the Atalanta management has set a price tag of 50 million euros (approximately 43 million pounds) for De Ketelaere. Previously, the club held negotiations to sell Ederson to Manchester United, but after that deal fell through, the Belgian playmaker became the primary source of revenue for the club.

World Cup success and tactical flexibility

Charles De Ketelaere became a true revelation for the Belgium national team at the 2026 World Cup. He managed to score three goals during the tournament, including a brace against the USA and becoming the only player to score against the champions, Spain. These results significantly increased his market value.

While Bayern has already submitted an official inquiry for the player's transfer, Paris Saint-Germain sees him as a suitable alternative to Maghnes Akliouche. Parisian coach Luis Enrique highly values the player's versatility: De Ketelaere can operate effectively as a right winger, a "false nine," or an attacking midfielder.

Atalanta head coach Maurizio Sarri is also placing great emphasis on the Belgian in his tactical schemes (4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3) ahead of the new season. The coach is testing him as a "wildcard" creating danger inside the penalty area or as a second operator moving behind the main striker. However, the club may be forced to sell him due to economic interests.

Atalanta's management intends to resolve the transfer issue before the start of the new season.
