CarPlay now supports video playback via Sidecar app
A breakthrough has come to Apple CarPlay — for the first time, video playback is now possible via the Sidecar app, Pepelac News reported. The app introduces a web browser with a video player interface accessible through CarPlay, despite Apple’s long-standing restrictions on such features.

Here's how it works: the user enters a video or website URL in the app on their iPhone, and the content becomes viewable through CarPlay — but only when the car is parked.

While Sidecar has existed in the App Store for some time, its recent update added video functionality and passed Apple’s review unnoticed, making it an unexpected win for tech enthusiasts.

However, developers caution that the built-in browser is still underdeveloped and that Apple could remove the feature in future updates. The app itself is free, but the video function requires a $10 purchase (about 125,000 UZS).

As many users resort to third-party workarounds for streaming, Sidecar offers a rare official and simple option — though its availability may be short-lived.
