DDR6 memory is expected to replace DDR5. According to The Elec, the new generation of memory will hit the market in 2028 or 2029. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar.
Memory prices are projected to decrease significantly by that time.
Major manufacturers Samsung, Hynix, and Micron have requested to accelerate the development of solutions for DDR6 modules. Currently, the companies are producing and testing initial prototypes.
Although the standard has not yet been approved by JEDEC, this does not hinder the production process. Due to high demand in the field of artificial intelligence, it is highly likely that DDR6 will first appear in the server segment.
The new memory will double the bandwidth capacity.
