New Siri App: Apple Prepares to Compete with ChatGPT

Ahead of the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, Bloomberg published leaked renders of planned AI updates for iPhone. These updates include an entirely new Siri app designed to compete with ChatGPT and other chatbots, alongside expanded system-integrated capabilities. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .
In the new iOS 27, when Siri is activated, its animation and responses emerge directly from the Dynamic Island area. This mode is highly convenient for short voice queries and makes the familiar Siri interface more interactive. Additionally, the Spotlight Search function will be integrated with Siri: the search bar opened by swiping down will now utilize an AI model based on Google Gemini technology.
According to Bloomberg, the new Siri app will be introduced as a standalone application, competing directly with chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Users will be able to view chat history and upload documents and photos in addition to text queries. Results will be presented via Dynamic Island in the form of visual cards.
To maintain its privacy-focused brand, Apple is also developing local AI models that process data on-device rather than in the cloud. While the company currently relies on partners like Google for complex technologies, it is gradually adapting its ecosystem to artificial intelligence.
Apple's key advantage lies in its scale. While ChatGPT has 900 million weekly active users, the number of Apple device users stands at 2.5 billion. This allows the company to be among the first to deliver this technology to millions of people who have not yet used AI tools.
