China has created an AI that makes independent decisions from space

Chinese aerospace researchers have introduced a completely new satellite surveillance system based on a combination of large language models and coordinated AI agents. This complex, called the Air Target Agent System, has the ability to independently analyze the situation on Earth and make rapid decisions directly from orbit. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
Unlike classic software designed for image recognition, the Air Target Agent System is not limited to simply marking objects. The system can independently interpret satellite images, draw logical conclusions, and initiate response measures without human operator involvement. It also has the ability to autonomously troubleshoot technical malfunctions that occur during a mission.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the creation of this platform is an attempt by China to increase transparency in its use of military AI. This move comes at a time when the US's secret automated target designation systems are facing severe international criticism. Reportedly, errors in American algorithms have led to tragic consequences in the conflict with Iran.
Until now, the Chinese government had officially declared that strict human control would be maintained over AI. However, the Air Target Agent System technology is aimed at minimizing human intervention and is expected to become an important part of the country's defense program. The new approach significantly reduces data analysis time while ensuring high reliability in dynamic combat scenarios.
