What Is the State of AMD AM4 Platform Sales in Germany

Statistics from Germany’s major Mindfactory retail chain show that demand for the AMD AM4 platform in the country remains far lower than many expected. According to Ixbt.com, despite AM4 receiving a second wind because of the high cost of DDR5 memory, German buyers prefer more modern solutions when choosing new motherboards. Ixbt.com reports .
Last month, AM4 accounted for approximately 10 percent of all AMD motherboards sold through the Mindfactory chain; more precisely, a share of 6.7 percent was recorded. Experts emphasize that these figures apply specifically to motherboards. A new AM4 motherboard is usually purchased when building a computer from scratch, forcing users to choose between the cheaper AM4 platform and the more expensive AM5 platform, which offers future upgrade options.

According to the data presented, the AM5 platform accounted for the majority of all motherboard sales, with a share of 82.2 percent. Intel’s LGA1851 platform followed with 6 percent, while the older LGA1700 held a 5.1 percent share. Overall, more than 90 percent of buyers chose motherboards supporting DDR5 memory. The brand breakdown also reveals clear leaders in sales volume. The Most Popular Models and the Future of AM4
MSI products were among the best-selling motherboards during the month. In particular, the MSI MAG Tomahawk WIFI B850 sold 160 units, making it the clear leader. The MSI Gaming Plus WIFI B850, with 110 units sold, and MSI Gaming Plus WIFI6E B850, with 100 units, were also in high demand. It is worth emphasizing that although modern solutions dominate the motherboard market, overall sales of AM4 processors may remain high.
