The national project "Green Space", aimed at improving the ecological situation of Uzbekistan and increasing green spaces and forests, has gained great importance with its successes achieved over the past 4 years. As part of this large-scale initiative, a total of 872 million trees and shrubs have been planted across the republic, making a significant contribution to the greening of the country's nature and improving its ecological condition.
Planting of seedlings continued at a rapid pace in the spring of this year. According to the initially set plan, 125 million trees and shrubs were to be planted in the country's territories, but this figure was exceeded in practice and reached 136.9 million trees. In addition, 8.3 million trees were planted on forest lands, with special attention paid to the expansion of green spaces in these territories.
In order to effectively implement irrigation works for seedlings, 90 new water wells were built within the framework of the project. In addition, new irrigation systems with a total length of 478.45 kilometers were put into operation. At the same time, 460 specially equipped technical means were connected to cultivate seedlings in areas with limited irrigation capabilities.
Within the framework of the project, which will last until 2025, it is planned to deliver a total of 30 million seedlings this year from the country's forestry enterprises, of which 14 million seedlings of trees and shrubs were prepared and distributed to the regions in the spring. The remaining seedlings are planned to be delivered to the address in the fall.
These seedlings were widely distributed not only for the appearance of streets and cities, but also to improve the ecological environment in educational and healthcare institutions. In particular, 406 thousand 372 seedlings were delivered to schools and preschool educational institutions across the country, 492 thousand 623 seedlings to healthcare institutions, and 808 thousand 200 seedlings to a total of 1,024 neighborhoods.
It should be noted that extensive work has been carried out to improve the ecological situation in the Aral Sea and the surrounding areas of the Aral Sea. A total of 126.2 thousand hectares of green cover have been created here. In particular, green areas created on 71.9 thousand hectares in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 23.3 thousand hectares in the Bukhara region, 16 thousand hectares in the Navoi region and 15 thousand hectares in the Khorezm region have been of great importance for improving the ecological situation in the Aral Sea.
At the same time, necessary measures have been taken to prevent erosion processes in the desert, mountain and foothill regions of the country. In this regard, special protective forests against soil erosion have been created on an area of 256 hectares.
The national project "Green Space" is an important step not only in improving environmental sustainability, but also in improving the living conditions of the population, combating climate change, and protecting natural resources. The joint efforts of the government and the people of Uzbekistan in this regard are aimed at leaving a green and healthy environment for future generations.
In the next stages of the project, it is planned to further expand the planting of seedlings, cover all regions of the country with greenery, and thereby strengthen the principles of living in harmony with nature. This will serve as a significant investment in the ecological future of Uzbekistan. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
