One of the world's largest databases — the Numbeo portal — has published the results of the International Crime Index for the first half of 2025. According to it, Uzbekistan ranks 25th in the world in terms of safety and has been recognized as the safest country in Central Asia.
This result was recorded due to Uzbekistan rising two positions higher. Reforms in the field of law and public safety, the effective organization of law enforcement agencies’ activities, and measures to raise citizens’ legal awareness were highly evaluated.
The indicators of neighboring countries are as follows:
Kazakhstan — 73rd place;
Kyrgyzstan — 101st place;
Afghanistan — 145th place.
Surprisingly, neighboring countries such as Turkmenistan and Tajikistan were not included in the index list.
Numbeo’s ranking is compiled taking into account the level of crime in countries, citizens’ subjective views on security, and indicators of peace and stability. Occupying high positions in such internationally recognized sources is an important factor for the country's image, as well as tourism and investment climate.
Uzbekistan’s result is assessed as a reflection of the country’s policy aimed at ensuring peace and safety. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
