Starting from August 7, 2026, mandatory animal registration will officially come into effect in our country. This special law, adopted this year, is set to be fully enforced exactly one year later. According to the document, all pet owners — both individuals and legal entities — will be required to register all animals under their care, reports norma.uz.
The law, titled “On Animal Identification, Registration and Monitoring,” aims to systematize animal control, ensure safety, and improve sanitation standards.
Why is registration necessary?
Veterinary experts point out that this will help prevent disease outbreaks, restrict illegal animal trade, and allow better tracking of abandoned animals. The system is designed to increase responsibility and transparency in animal ownership.
Registration will be handled by the Identification Center under the Committee for Veterinary and Livestock Development. The center will collect data through an electronic system and provide real-time information to relevant agencies.
Obligations of owners
It is specifically noted that Article 12, Part 2 will be enforced from January 1, 2028. This section outlines the following responsibilities:
-
comply with identification and tracking requirements;
-
provide timely updates when the animal's number, location, or ownership changes;
-
not keep or breed unregistered animals.
How will animals be identified?
Special chips or tags will be used. These tools allow for accurate identification of both the animal and its owner, and will also help in finding lost pets.
Are you ready for this new chapter?
Once this system is implemented, every animal owner must act responsibly. This is not just a legal requirement, but also a matter of compassion. Such systems are becoming increasingly necessary to ensure protection and care for all living creatures.
