Rumors about cotton prices have been clarified

The Ministry of Agriculture reacted to reports circulating on social media in recent days that "1,800 soums will be paid for 1 kilogram of cotton harvest." The official statement emphasized that this information does not correspond to reality and is not confirmed by any official document.
According to the Ministry, cotton prices this year are set as follows:
- For each kilogram of cotton harvested by machine, 1,373 soums are paid.
- A recommended price of 2,000 soums has been established for each kilogram of cotton harvested by hand. At the same time, during the harvest period, the amount of payment can be determined independently by mutual agreement between the heads of clusters, farms, and harvesters.
- To cover the costs of growing cotton, an additional 1,000 soums will be allocated from the state budget for each kilogram.
The Ministry noted that this procedure was introduced to ensure stability in the agricultural sector, protect the interests of cotton producers, and stimulate the work of pickers.
"Therefore, the information spread on social networks about 1 kilogram - 1,800 soums is unfounded. Official information on cotton prices is communicated to the public only through state sources. Various assumptions and unverified information can lead to uncertainty and various interpretations in society," the ministry said in a statement.
In this regard, mass media and bloggers were asked to be impartial in disseminating information and not to disseminate false information to the public.
It should be recalled that in the fall of 2024, it was planned to pay 2,500 soums for each kilogram of hand-picked cotton. This year, it was officially announced that price changes had been introduced.
