Air pollution sharply increased in Tashkent

On November 20, the city of Tashkent again took one of the highest places in the world in terms of air pollution. According to the latest data provided by the international portal IQAir, the capital has risen to 2nd place among the world's largest megacities. This indicator once again shows how high the amount of harmful particles in the air is and how the risk to public health has increased.

As of 18:55 Tashkent time, the concentration of fine particulate matter of 2.5 types in the atmosphere was 166 μg/m3. This is 33.2 times higher than the annual norm recommended by the World Health Organization, which further clarifies the seriousness of the situation.

In such a situation, the population is advised to strengthen precautionary measures. It is very important not to go outside unless necessary, especially for people with chronic respiratory diseases to use medical masks. When entering a house from the street, simple rules like washing your face and hands thoroughly, preventing dust accumulation in the room, tightly closing doors and windows, and cleaning the room with a damp cloth several times a day help protect yourself.

It should be recalled that earlier Uzhydromet also issued a warning about air pollution in Tashkent. Experts say that the increase in harmful particles in the air is associated with the inversion caused by sharp temperature fluctuations. In such conditions, harmful substances accumulate in the near-ground air layer and their dispersion becomes difficult.

This situation once again reminded the residents of the capital of the importance of environmental safety and personal precautions.
