The President announced a new decree on holidays in connection with the New Year

In Uzbekistan, extended holidays have been established for the population in connection with the New Year holiday. This is stated in the decree "On the establishment of additional non-working days during the celebration of official dates and the postponement of weekends in 2026," signed by the President of Uzbekistan on December 24.

In accordance with the decree, December 31 and January 2 and 3, regardless of the type of work week, are designated as additional non-working days. Thus, Uzbeks will have the opportunity to rest for a total of five days in connection with the New Year holiday.

In 2026, January 2, May 28-29, and August 31 will be additional days off for all employees. For those working a six-day work week, January 3, May 30, and December 31 have been designated as additional days off.

Also, some holidays will be postponed due to their coincidence with weekends. In particular, the days off corresponding to the holidays of March 8, March 21, and May 9 will be moved to March 9, March 23, and May 11, respectively. For those working a five-day work week, the day off will be moved from December 12 to December 31.

In connection with the extension of holidays, it is recommended to organize discounts and promotions for tourism, sanatoriums, and domestic transport services. Measures will also be taken to widely inform the population about the festive events.
