Uzbekistan may introduce fines for swimming in prohibited areas

Uzbekistan is planning to set administrative fines for swimming in unauthorized areas. A draft law aimed at strengthening water safety is currently under discussion. This was reported by podrobno.uz reports .
Under the draft, the Code of Administrative Liability will be supplemented with a new Article 204-2. It covers violations of safety rules at water bodies, including swimming in places where prohibitory signs are installed.
The document proposes a fine of 1 base calculation amount — 412,000 soums — for citizens for a first offense. In case of a repeat offense, the fine will increase to 3 BCAs — up to 1.236 million soums. For officials responsible for safety at water bodies, the fine may reach 5 BCAs — up to 2.06 million soums.
The draft law was developed amid a growing number of accidents and fatalities at water sites. Experts attribute this to insufficient state oversight and weak accountability mechanisms. The new measures are expected to strengthen agency control and increase personal responsibility among отдыхающих in hazardous areas.
Earlier, it was reported that a teenager drowned in the Chirchiq River while trying to retrieve a ball.
