In Uzbekistan, activity in the passenger car market increased sharply in March 2026. Within one month, sales exceeded 78,000 units, rising by 19% compared to the previous month and by 20.6% compared to the same period last year. This was reported in an analysis by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
According to the data, the car market became more active in almost all regions. Only slight declines were observed in Jizzakh, Andijan, and Samarkand regions. The highest growth was recorded in Surkhandarya region, where sales increased by 51.4%. Growth was also noted in Tashkent region (46%), Syrdarya (34.5%), and Navoi (27.5%). In the capital Tashkent, market activity rose by 60.5% in one month.
In the primary market, sales of new passenger cars reached about 31,000 units, increasing by more than 13% month-on-month. On an annual basis, growth reached 37%. In the segment of locally produced cars, sales approached 25,000 units, rising by 3.8% monthly and 26.5% annually.
In the segment of newly imported cars, growth was even stronger: sales nearly doubled in one month, reaching around 5,700 units. Annual figures also showed more than a twofold increase.
The secondary market also showed significant growth. In March, sales of used passenger cars totaled 47,500 units, increasing by 23% month-on-month. Annual growth was about 12%.
The electric vehicle market is also steadily developing. In March, sales reached 5,500 units, increasing by 24% year-on-year. Growth was recorded in 8 regions, while 4 regions saw a decline. The highest growth was observed in Khorezm region (fivefold), as well as in Navoi (3.6 times), Jizzakh (2.9 times), and Fergana (2.2 times).
