An incredible tragedy occurred in South Korea - a woman set fire to her house, intending to burn down a cockroach. This was reported by the BBC.
The incident occurred on October 20 in the city of Osan. According to the young woman, she tried to destroy the cockroach in her house with a burning sprayer. It was known that he had used such a method before, but this time the result ended tragically. The fire spread very quickly and engulfed the entire apartment.
According to the police, a criminal case is expected against the woman under the articles of "unintentional fire" and "causing death by negligence."
During the fire, her neighbor, a Chinese woman in her 30s, tried to escape from her apartment on the 5th floor, but fell and died while trying to climb out the window. Her husband and two-month-old baby were also at home. When the couple noticed the fire, they handed the baby to the neighbor and saved it. The husband managed to get into the neighboring building with the help of people, but it was impossible to save his wife.
According to local media, many did not manage to escape due to the thick smoke covering the stairs. Shops were located on the first floor of the building, and more than 30 apartments were located on the upper floors. As a result of the fire, eight people were hospitalized with various degrees of poisoning.
Researchers note that in recent years, "fire" methods against cockroaches have become popular on the internet and social networks. Experts constantly warn that this method often causes dangerous explosions or fires in enclosed spaces.
It should be recalled that a similar situation was recorded in Australia in 2018 - at that time, when a man tried to burn a cockroach with a sprayer, the entire kitchen burned down.
Officials urge citizens to be cautious of such dangerous "life hacks" and to use simple, safe tools with the help of nozzles. Because one negligence can harm not only the home but also human life.
