26 people injured in earthquake in Turkey

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 was recorded in Balikesir province, located in the western part of Turkey. This was announced by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

As a result of the earthquake, 26 people were injured, all of them were discharged home after receiving medical care in the hospital, and no casualties were recorded. At the same time, it was reported that after the incident, 12 aftershocks with a score above 4 points were observed.

According to seismologists from the Turkish Disaster Management Authority (AFAD), the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Balikesir province, and its impact was felt not only by local residents but also in the provinces of Istanbul, Izmir, and Manisa.

In the Sindirgi district of Balikesir, three residential buildings and a shop collapsed as a result of the earthquake. Rescuers are currently inspecting the damaged buildings, and the population has been temporarily evacuated to safe areas.

According to Minister Yerlikaya, all government services are currently operating actively, and citizens are urged to increase vigilance and comply with seismic safety regulations.
